I’m not much for instrumental albums or albums filled with guest spots. So imagine my disappointment when the second Vik Vaughn album turned out to be not much more than one of MF Doom’s Special Herbs records? Sure there’s some cool sampling on this thing, but the best part about Doom/Viktor is his vocal stylings, wacky lyrics and general delivery, of which there isn’t quite enough here. Even on songs where he is rapping, his flow sounds off–like someone created the music not at the same time he was laying down the tracks. It’s kind of weird and certainly nowhere as solid as Vik’s “debut.” But, seriously, you gonna trust me for your hip-hop tastes?
