Listen to the wunderkind make the oldie-time music! One part Neutral Milk Hotel and another Jonathan Richman, this kid manages to recreate a period of music long gone. What exact period that is completely escapes me, but I know that no modern tunes really capture the same feeling that these do. There are muted trumpets and ukuleles and probably some bowsaws or something that, along with his voice, recall mystery and romance and all all sorts of fun old stuff that I’m sure my grandparents enjoyed back in the day. To say Beirut is affected is an understatement, but sometimes you want a little theater with your music. In this case, it really works.
