This one is less swinging than their debut, Designing a Nervous Breakdown, eliminating the wacky keyboard and going after a more authentic, retro sound. They end up sounding more like Koufax or some sauced-up Brit band on a Weezer bender. Despite the more mature sound, they seem to be taking themselves less seriously trying to carve their own niche in the overcrowded indie-pop landscape–with mixed results.
