“In the Morning,” the song that starts off this album, is just one of those great first tracks that leads perfectly into “Reasons,” which then goes into “Big Dipper,” forming almost a perfect opening trifecta of indie pop goodness. This is honestly one of my favorite albums of all time. I remember listening to it on repeat in my windowless, brick-lined room on Third Ave. in Manhattan thanking god that this thing had been recorded to tape and preserved for future generations to enjoy. I’m not foolish enough to think that people still give a crap about this record, but I’ll do my damndest to keep it alive. I know it’s not necessarily one of Built to Spill’s critically acclaimed classics, but to hell with what everyone else says. It’s almost a perfect shamble of an album, running its way through gem after gem.
