If the drinks weren’t so damn expensive, this would be one of the better bar/clubs around. So, go there for their two-for-one happy hour, and the problem is solved. Now your beers are only $3.50. The strange part about the place is that it’s on the second floor of an innocuous building. You feel almost as if you are in one of your very hip friend’s apartments, and he has his very own DJ to spin tunes, and his very own mod decorator who is in love with the late sixties–complete with lava lamps. Each night of the week presents different activities at Bar 13. Sometimes it’s one of the Village’s finest up-and-coming, angst-ridden acoustic guitarists, sometimes spoken word, but mostly it’s a DJ spinning dance music. There isn’t much space in which to dance, but that can’t be a bad thing if you’re one of the many stylish women looking to meet the macho man of her dreams. [MF]
