In the land of the lounge, the Broome Street Bar is a nice respite. There’s no velvet rope, and most of the clientele look well-fed. Jeans are the norm (with the occasional wandering tourist in shorts and high socks), and attitude is at a minimum. The crowd is your typical downtown, youngish after-work bunch just looking for a few beers and a burger in a relaxed atmosphere. The bar is anything but fancy, and you can tell the owners want it that way. Whoever these Bob and Kenn guys are whose names are over the door may sound like some awful morning zoo radio show, but they have their niche in this ‘hood where fancy- shmancy places are a dime a dozen.
